On 22 and 23 July 2025 the Bulgarian Football Union took an active part in one of the key events of the international project "FUTURE", which is implemented with the support of UEFA and brings together partner organizations and national federations from all over Europe. The event took place in Budapest, Hungary, and included workshops, discussions and exchanges of good practice focused on the use of sport - in particular football - as a tool for teaching children about sustainable behaviour and environmental awareness.
The meeting included a visit to the training facilities of the Hungarian Football Federation, where participants had the opportunity to see the state-of-the-art infrastructure and learn about the initiatives of Hungarian colleagues to promote sustainable practices among young footballers and their coaches. This visit highlighted the importance of the sport environment as a platform for educational and social initiatives that have a long-term impact on communities.
The Future Project is designed to promote sustainable behaviour among children aged 6-11 through sports activities and educational campaigns. The Bulgarian Football Union participates in the initiative as part of efforts to promote environmental awareness and develop a culture that values environmental protection. The main idea is to create a social identity through football, to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and to motivate young people to implement practices that have a positive impact on nature.
The Bulgarian Football Union will continue to support initiatives aimed at the development of young generations in the spirit of sustainability and will use the power of football as a tool for positive change in society.
