Bulgaria U17 lost 1:3 to Sweden in their second match of the first qualifying round for EURO 2017.
The play was almost equal until the 46 minute when Tihomir Dimitrov received a red card and was dismissed. That proved to be decisive for the final score.
In the first half-time Bulgarian team tried to score several times but Tånander managed to save the shots of Iyad Hamud in and Ilia Gruev.
Bulgarian goalkeeper Lalev also had to intervene and save the shot of Saebbö.
The second half-time started as a nightmare for Alexander Georgiev’s players. In the 45th minute Tihomir Dimitrov received a straight red card for a foul against Krona and Findell scored in favor of Sweden after taking the free kick.
The Swedish team took an advantage five minutes later when Krona scored to make the result 2:0.
In the 65th minute Gruev assisted Mihaylov who scored a goal overcoming Tånander for 1:2.
Three minutes later the Swedish reserve Mawana scored for the final result 3:1 in favor of Sweden.
In the standings Bulgaria has a total of 3 points (after 2 matches played). Sweden is the leader with 6 points (2 matches). The teams of Georgia and Finland are without any points, but both team played a game less.
According to the regulation the top two teams from each pool progress alongside the five third-placed sides with the best record against the leading pair in their groups to the Elite round, which will be played in the spring of 2017.
The next and the last match for Bulgarian team in Group 8 is against hosts from Finland. The match is to be played on October 3, Monday, at 13:00 h., at "Raahen Urheilupuisto" stadium in Raahe.
