The Mini UERO 2016 tournament has finished. The tourney was part of UEFA`s “Grassroots” Programme and was dedicated to the Children's Day and the upcoming EURO 2016. Nearly 300 children from 24 local secondary schools participated in the championship at the “Vasil Levski” National stadium and represented all of the countries which are going to play in the EURO 2016 in France this summer.
The tournament was organized by the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) and Sofia Municipality in cooperation with Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and "National Sports Facilities Company".
The championship was also part of the BFU`s “Let`s kick” campaign which purpose is to support and develop children, women and youth football in Bulgaria.The campaign has officially started on 27 May when the Bulgarian national team played an exhibition match with children without parental care at the “Vasil Levski” national stadium.
The tournament was won by the children from 132 “Vanya Voynova” secondary school who represented Slovakia. In the final they beat 4:1 Romania which was represented by 85 „Otetz Paisii“ secondary school.


Among the official guest of the tournament were the President of the Amateur Football League – Rumyan Valkov, the CEO of the "National Sports Facilities Company" – Plamen Manolov, the BFU`s Deputy Executive Director – Pavel Kolev and the Director of the Prevention, integration, sport and tourism " direcorate to Sofia Municipality – Irena Dimitrova who awarded the children with trophies, medals and gifts.

During these two days (1-2 June) the children had a lot of fun. The played football, met many new friends and had the opportunity to visit the National sports museum where they examined the trophies and medals that were won thanks to the great Bulgarian athletes.
