Bulgaria WU16s squad made a solid start to this year's UEFA Development Tournament, beating their Georgian counterparts 4:1.
In front of a home crowd in Albena, at “Albena 1” Stadium, Troyan Radulov`s players demonstrated their qualities and will to win.
First half
Bulgaria dominated from the start. In the 16th minute Ebru Dormushali`s goal set the tone for Bulgaria`s victory. After a cross by the left side, Gabunia`s clearance fell directly into the path of FC “LP Super Sport” midfielder, who put Troyan Radulov`s side ahead.
The game was rather one-sided and until the break the “lionesses” could have doubled their lead, but Alexandra Goranova, Ebru Dormushali and Antonina Petkova missed their chances.
Second half
In the beginning of the second half Tamari Epitashvili scored an equalizer after a fast counterattack. However, Georgia`s celebration didn’t last long as less than a minute later, Aleksandra Goranova secured the Bulgaria lead again after beating the goalie.
The “lionesses” continued pressing their Georgian counterparts and deservedly netted the ball for the third time in the 59th minute. A defender handled the ball inside the penalty area, the referee Hristiyana Guteva pointed to the spot and Gergana Petkova stepped up to score for 3:1. By the end of the match there was time for one more goal. In the 67th minute Teodora Yordanova shaped the final outcome with a precision shot after an individual effort down the right side.
"I am satisfied with the result. The girls have shown a very good collective, motivation and fighting spirit. I gave chance to all the players from who13 are newcomers. The tension has had some impact on their performance. I am aware of their qualities, they can do much more and have yet to demonstrate it. A great future awaits this team, "said Bulgaria`s Head Coach Troyan Radulov.
In the other game Croatia beat Romania 1:0.
After the first games Bulgaria is leading the group with 3 points, followed by Croatia also with 3, but with a worse goal difference. Georgia and Romania are without a point.
Bulgaria`s next game is against Romania and will be played on Tuesday, at 15:30 hrs. at “Albena 1” Stadium.
