The Bulgarian Under-16 national team suffered a 0:2 defeat against Croatia U16 in its second game of UEFA`s Development Tournament in Albena.

First half:

The “young lions” could have opened the scoring in the early stages of the game, but didn`t manage to take advantage of the opposition`s mistakes in defence. Kun Mihaylov and Stefan Metodiev missed their chances.

A few minutes later the guests responded and organized a fast counterattack. Mikele Sego was left one-on-one with the goalie and shot, but Damyanov kept his nerve and saved.

In the 13th minute Kun Mihaylov shot from the penalty area, but the ball was blocked by a defender.

120 seconds later the Croats opened the score. Damyan Damyanov made a mistake, Jurica Bajic took the ball and gave his team the lead.

In the fallowing minutes Bulgaria was dominating on the pitch. The Bulgarians created a couple of scoring opportunities, but in the first case Kotarski reacted quickly and prevented Kun from stealing the ball. In the second attempt Gruev`s header went wide.

Two minutes before the end of the first part the guest doubled their lead. Jurica Bajic stole the ball in Bulgaria`s half, advanced forward and sended the ball home with a strong shot from 20 meters.

Second half:

During the second part the Croats were the better side on the pitch.

Damyanov made a vital save after stopping Ernst`s shot who was left one-on-one with him.

In the 57th minute  Petar Mukulic was sent-off for a second yellow card.

With a Man Up on the pitch, the “young lions” created several good scoring chances, but the result remained the same.

Kun had a chance in stoppage time, but his shot was saved by Bazdaric.

In the other match, Romania beat Georgia 1:0.

Bulgaria`s third and last games is against Romania. The match will be played on Friday, at 11:00 hrs., at “Albena 1” Stadium.
