The elite referees and assistans performed excellently at the winter seminar in Sliven

A preseason seminar for referees and asistant-referees from the two profesional levels in Bulgarian football (“A” and „B“ group) was held in Sliven. Тhe participants were divided into different groups in order to attend teoretical and practical sessions on various topics such as: positioning extent of fouls and tactical fouls, Rule 11 - causes of errors, player protection, control of the match - good practices, fitness training and interaction.

UEFA`s refereeing officer Marc Batta, who is also the supervisor of the Bulgarian referees, was a special guest of the seminar. Bata expressed his satisfaction and praised the BFU Referees Committee for their accomplishments and endeavour.

The seminar began with physical tests - "FIFA Test" 1 and 2, including 6 runs on 40 m and 20 sections of 150 meters. According to the Acting Chairman of the Refereeing Committee, Mr. Peter Petrov, the referees have demonstrated good physical condition.  

"All referees including the international referees have shown a very good level of their psysical condition and and covered the regulations of FIFA. We will gradually increase the workload for the winter test, but in March we plan to implement and referees cover the so-called "yo-yo" test, which is at a higher level and UEFA is implementing it . "

Thereafter  the Committee made an analysis of the first part of the championship and according to Petrov the key aspects are the teamwork and uniform criteria of the referees during football matches.
