The Bulgarian under-17 national team, which is led by Viktorio Pavlov, lost its third and last match match against Latvia with 0:1 in Group C of the “Granatkin Memorial” international football tournament which is held in Saint Petersburg (Russia). The Bulgarians who are a year younger than their opponents, had to play more than 70 minutes with 10 players after Andrea Hristov was sent off in the 19th minute. Despite their disadvantage the Bulgarians played well during the second half, they managed to create several scoring opportunities and missed a penalty at the end of the game.
Latvia broke the dedlock in the 19th minute. Roberts Uldrikis made a run by the left side and crossed to Aleksejs Davidenkovs who was brought down in the penalty area by Andrea Hristov. The referee pointed the spot and showed the defender a red card. Uldrikis took the penalty and duly dispatched it despite Petrov diving the right way.


In the 36th minute after a fast counterattack Daniils Hvoinickis missed a sitter not without the help from the goalie Petrov who showed his class and prevented a second goal.
By the end of the first part Petrov had to intervene twice and saved Grinbergs and Hvoynickis`s shots.
During the second half the Bulgarians played well, but couldn`t manage to equalize. Ivan Tilev, Stanislav Ivanov, Krastev missed a few good chances.


In the last minute Bulgaria were awarded a penalty when Soloveiciks brought down Mitrev, but Purins saved Tilev`s shot and secured the win.
Thus, after its third and last match of the group, Bulgaria ends on the final 4th place with 0 points and will play a match for the 11-12 positions.
The game will be played on 11th of January at 11:15 hrs at Saint Petersburg sports and concert complex.
