Bulgaria U17 one step away from qualification for the Elite round after beating Scotland U17 with 2:0

The Bulgarian under-17 national team beat Scotland U17 with 2:0 in its second game in Group 12 of the EURO 2016 Qualifying round.

Since the beginning of the match Bulgaria dominated on the pitch at "Lazur" stadium in Burgas. The Bulgarian players once again showed spirit, will to win, strong collective, they had superior ball possession, they pressed the opponents in most of the time, they were aggressive in front of the goal, they created several goalscoring opportunities and managed to score two goals while didn`t allow any serious dangers in front of their goal, guarded by Sheytanov.

6 minutes after the start Stanislav Ivanov tried a shot from the left side, but Mcadams saved. Shortly afterwards Valentin Antonov tried his luck with a shot from 25 meters, but missed the target.

In the 24th minute the Bulgarian players opened the scoring. Dimitar Kostadinov netted the ball into the top right corner of the goal from a free kick with a strong shot from 25 meters.

A minute later Ivan Tilev tried to surprise the goalkeeper with a long shot, but the ball went wide.

In the 26th minute Stanislav Ivanov made a fine run by the right side and shot, the goalkeeper saved, but there was no one to put the ball into the net.

In the 33rd minute Petko Hristov stole the ball in the center of the pitch, advanced and blasted the ball with his left foot, but missed the target.

From the beginning of the second half Scott Gemmill`s players imposed strong press and tried to equalize, as Aitchison, Mcallister and Morrison tried a few long shots, but Sheytanov kept his net dry.

In the 66th minute the substitude Kaloyan Krastev ran past the defence and shot, but the ball bounced off a defender and Mcadams saved.

A minute later the Bulgarian players doubled their lead. Ivan Tilev shot from a free kick from 26 meters and shaped the final outcome of the game.

In the other match of our group, Italy and FYR Macedonia finished 0:0.

Thus, after the end of the second matches, Italy leads with 4 points. Bulgaria and Scotland are second and third with 3 points. FYR Macedonia is in the last position with 1 point.

Bulgaria`s next and last game is against FYR Macedonia on 26th of October, Monday, at 17:00 hrs at "Lazur" stadium in Burgas. A win against our western neighbors will ensure Bulgaria`s progression to the Elite round. In the other match of the group Italy confronts Scotland at 17:00 hrs at "Arena Sozopol" stadium in Sozopol.
