On the eve of the national holiday on March 3th the “young lions” achieved a prestigious victory in a friendly game against Switzerland with 2:1 at "Hadji Dimitar" stadium in Sliven.
The game started very dynamic with many dangerous situations in front the two doors. Captain Kristian Slavov had a chance to score, but the ball went just wide of the right-side post of the guests’ goal. A minute later the "crusaders" were awarded a penalty after a foul on Harris Samardzic. Dimitar Sheytanov saved the penalty. In 22 minutes Petko Hristov crossed the ball to Ilian Ivanov who gave Bulgaria the lead. Two minutes later Jean Bammer knocked Georgi Rusev in the penalty area, and the referee showed him the red card and pointed the spot. The Swiss goalkeeper saved Tonislav Yordanov`s shot from 11 meters. Until the end of the first half Tonislav Yordanov had two good opportunities for scoring, but missed them.
In the first minutes of the second half the guests managed to equalize in the 49th minute after a pass from deep and private breakthrough from Edmond Ramadani. The Bulgarians answered quickly and Tonislav Yordanov netted the ball to ensure Bulgaria’s victory.
