Bulgarian national under-16 football team defeated Niderzaksen 3:2 in a thrilling friendly game at “Tsarsko Selo” in Sofia on November 4. This was the first official friendly match for the newly formed national team for boys born in 1999. Bulgaria`s head coach Galin Ivanov gave all his players the chance to show themselves. He divided them into to two different squads for each of the halves.
During the first half the guests from Germany had territorial advantage. Even though Ivan Mitrev opened the scoring for Bulgaria in the middle of the first half, an own goal from Nikolay Yankov in the 35th minute evened the score. Slavia`s striker Kaloyan Krastev put Bulgaria ahead with a sublime finish in the 50th minute. Niderzaksen once again equalized after a second own goal, this time Peter Petrov was the sinner. Galin Ivanov`s players once again showed that they had the character and the spirit to cope with the difficult situation. In the final minutes of the game Nikola Gavov found himself in the right place at the right time and scored the winner.
